Most powerful Ad Blocker for iOS and Safari
1. I followed the steps in “How to Set Up” and enabled Umbra. But I still see ads displayed in Safari. What should I do?
Current blocking rules may not include all the ads you don’t wanna see, for example, YouTube video ads. We are in the process of optimizing the blocking rules. Please use “Report site” or report the sites and URLs which you saw ads not being blocked to email@example.com. We can add them in the next update.
2. Some websites deny access to me after I enabled Umbra. What happened?
Some websites can detect if you have adblock extension enabled. If yes, they will force you to subscribe newsletter before allowing you to access, something similar to what Washington Post does. Unfortunately, we do not have a solution to that at the moment.
3. How do I know whether the Umbra is enabled or not?
To check that, you need to go to system Settings > Safari > General: Content Blocker > Umbra ON/OFF. You’ll always have Umbra service running as long as it is ON. It doesn’t matter whether the Umbra application is launched or not. You can easily verify by opening any ad-heavy site, such as ibtimes.com, in Safari to see the “Before” v.s. “After” results.
4. What else do I get when I have Umbra enabled?
You will find that page loading speed is much faster than before. This is due to removal of ads units and trackers associated with them which add extra weight and slow down site performance dramatically.
